Professor Anthony Glees is Emeritus Professor of Politics and former Director of the Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies (BUCSIS) at the University of Buckingham. An internationally recognised authority on intelligence, national security, European affairs and British-German relations, he has authored numerous books, journal articles and book chapters on security, intelligence and international politics. Previously, he served as Professor of Politics and Director of the Centre for Intelligence and Security Studies at Brunel University London.
Educated at the University of Oxford, he has combined an extensive academic career with significant public service. He worked on secondment to the UK Government on national security issues, served as Special Adviser to Lord Pickles (2023–24) and for over a decade was Security Policy Rapporteur for the European Ideas Network, affiliated with the European Parliament. Professor Glees has advised the Home Office, served on a Foreign Office advisory board and provided expert evidence to UK parliamentary committees. He has also acted as an adviser to the British Council and BBC. A widely sought-after commentator, he regularly contributes expert analysis to leading British and international media on intelligence, security and European affairs.
